Birth
Falling.
Unfocussed.
Walls?
Reaching out.
Pulling back.
Friction!
No end.
No start.
Perpetual.
Dark clouds split
allowing shards of light
to trickle through cracks revealed
warming the earth and all possessed
bringing an end to a cold age
I bask in burgeoning warmth
trying to soak in as many
of those awakening rays
as I can*edited by Karl Scott

As She Set Me Free
Fear rattles down the spine,
a steel rimed cart wheel
juddering over aging cobble stones.
The cold of the Arctic
poured down the spinal column.
The heart
a de-tuned bass drum throbbing,
Feral, ignoring the need to breathe.
A butterfly trapped in a room
sensing the freedom outside,
battering itself against a window
The breath
trying to keep up
with a frenzied heart,
a stilettoed lady chasing a bus
down a steep slippery pavement.
Adrenaline,
nettled into the blood,
Sherbet fizzing in the skin,
sparklers lighted,
spiking all the way through
to fingers and toes.
The need to flee.
The frozen rootedness.
the desire to hold,
clasp, cling, enfold,
never let go.
The, ‘please God, I beg you.’
